Why The Claim Culture Is Costing Us More Than Is Being Paid Out

Things are no longer as they once were when you were able to apologise and offer money for any damages that had been caused. It seems that people are not happy unless they get a massive sum for property and injuries even lying or exaggerating to make their claim worth more. This is what has come of the world today and the claim culture that seems to be taking over.

There are circumstances where people should make a claim, especially when someone is at financial or personal loss through no fault of their own. This means that they are legally entitled to get what they are entitled to.

Unfortunately because people do make exaggerated claims those who get insurance for honest purposes have to pay higher premiums to get any level of coverage.

Owners of children’s playgrounds and restaurants have had to increase their entrance fees too so it is not only drivers, business and private home and land owners who have to suffer the higher costs. This is partly the reason why so many of them have to close down.

This is something we do not think about when we complain that the cost of living has risen significantly even with inflation put into consideration. Although we expect prices to rise a little they are becoming ridiculous due to any slight accident (and for some) deliberate injury being a reason for an easy profit. The way things are going at present many of the places we enjoy will not be affordable so they will have to close.

Next time you have to fill in long forms before your child goes on a school trip or even to their favourite ball pit you will see that the reason is the companies way of trying to avoid having to pay more than they currently do for their insurance premiums meaning that you are responsible for your child’s actions and more rules are put into the playtime that was once fun.

You can get insurance on almost anything. There are things you need to get insurance for by law such as when you wish to drive a car. You can see why this is essential so that people who drive without the care and attention they should are able to afford to cover the damages they cause. Those who continually have claims made against them will have their premiums raised accordingly.

The other extreme are people who are paying to insure body parts that may give them their livelihood. The chance of them losing a limb or this part is slim so the only people who are getting rich are those who are providing insurance.

The fact there are so many losing their jobs it seems this is a way that people are heading towards to make sure they can make ends meet. Maybe the first claim is slightly exaggerated and may have started as innocently getting what is rightfully theirs. Once the money is in some people’s hands they look for another opportunity to get more. Not everyone thinks like this but some do and this is what is making out entrance to the places that we all enjoy more expensive.

Those things that we were able to do without a second thought now become a treat that becomes less and less and eventually disappears.
