For the past 8 years, the top award has gone to Amica Mutual. In 2009, this 102 year old company received a perfect rating in all 5 categories evaluated. They have 34 regional offices across the United States in order to respond to every kind of disaster.
The next best company was Auto-Owners which covers homes as well as cars. The rest of the top five were Erie Insurance, State Farm, and Cincinnati Insurance.
The bottom of the list was occupied by Traveler’s Insurance, the Fireman’s Fund and AIG insurance.
J.D. Power and Associates recommends that you shop for homeowners insurance on more than the basis of price. Service is also an important measure for your overall satisfaction with your home insurance.
Another thing you should consider when price shopping is if the policies you are comparing offer the same coverage package. Many companies that claim to have the lowest prices also have limited coverage.
