A young Frenchwoman, as was later on diagnosed, was suffering an appendicitis attack in Afghanistan which I witnessed to be the most alarming medical situation in all of my travels. Unfortunately, she was on a stranded bus in the middle of an empty desert when she experienced pain attacks. Adequate medical care is sometimes not provided to Americans who suffer from life threatening instances such as accidents and illnesses in the remote areas of the world.
