How to Live With No Health Insurance

There is an established strong co-relation between being employed and having health insurance coverage. As it turns out, most of the people in the world with any health insurance coverage are typically people who have gotten such health insurance as part of their employment benefits. This conversely means that they lose such health insurance benefits immediately they lose their employment for whatever reasons.

And as the global financial crisis continues to unfold, many people are finding themselves losing their jobs, and consequently their employer-sponsored health insurance; leading to a situation where an ever rising number of people is looking for information on how to cope with life without health insurance coverage.

A good way to start in managing life without health insurance coverage is by making maximum use of the available ‘low cost and no cost’ healthcare services offered by community health centers. While these may not be top notch health care facilities, they certainly make a good place to seek healthcare services for ‘simple’ ailments that one would otherwise have to pay considerable sums of money (out of their wallet, on account of their being without health insurance) to get treated in the bigger healthcare facilities, and where the treatment they get is basically the same as what they stand to get from the community health centers.

If one qualifies for the ‘financially-vulnerable’ criteria applied for government initiatives like Medicare, they should not feel ashamed about registering for them, because they are meant for exactly people who find themselves in the circumstances they themselves find themselves in. This is yet another way you can manage life after losing your health insurance coverage.

To cover for your prescription medication (in case you happen to get an expensive prescription while without health insurance), consider registering for the ‘needy-person assistance programs’ run by the pharmaceutical companies – though you will have to qualify under quite a stringent criteria, if you are to benefit from this.

As one works out ways of getting proper health insurance coverage in the future, enrolling their kids for the state-subsidized ‘health insurance for kids’ programs while also possibly taking up short term health insurance (which is usually not really very costly) are all steps one can take to keep themselves covered during the periods of time they find themselves without proper health insurance cover.

Don’t have a lot of money to buy a car? Worry no more, just because it’s available to get the credit loans to work out all the problems. Thence take a short term loan to buy all you require.
